Sweden is home to many gorgeous natural sites, as well as gorgeous architecture and fantastic food. If you are looking for a great outdoor adventure there are plenty of lakes and parks to be enjoyed all year round. If you are lucky enough to make it to one of the smaller lakes you may find that they are very secluded, and you may even get to have an entire lake all to yourself. Or if you want more options as to activities and sites to see you can explore one of the larger more popular lakes, there you will be able to go canoeing, swimming, or even check out some of the small towns that surround the lakes and do some shopping and dining.

A great area to check out is Småland, this is known as the region of lakes. It borders on the city of Skåne in the south and has so many great attractions to check out. There are family friendly options such as Astrid Lindgren World or High Chaparral, or you can go fishing, canoeing or swimming at the lake as well. There are four lakes in the region and one of them, Bolmen is the 10th largest Latin in Sweden it is ideal for hiking and camping. There are great paths for cycling as well and you can even go berry picking if the session is right.

Then there is lake Vånern, it is in central Sweden and it is the largest inland lake in Sweden. There are many large lakes in this area of Sweden but this one is one of the best. It has over 20,000 islands within it! Here you can fish, swim, canoe and so much more. There is a great lake side town called Jönköping which is a great place to stop and get a bite to eat or to do a little bit of shopping. This area is great for both families and adventurous single explorers a like!

While there are many great lakes in all of Sweden the greatest lakes are said to be in the North of Sweden. Here you can find the largest lakes in the whole country as well. A few of the largest ones are Torneträsk, Stora Lulevatten (The Great Lule Lake), Hornavan-Storavan, Storuman, Storsjön and Siljan. A great one to visit is Torneträsk, it is located in Abisko National Park, here you can see the Midnight Sun, from May 27th until July 18th. You can take a bus up to the top of the mountain to see the amazing views or you can hike up if you are up to it. Either way it is something to not be missed, it is one of the greatest outdoor experiences to see while in Sweden.

Sweden is full of fantastic sites that you can enjoy with your friends and family. Whether you want to stay in the city and enjoy the fine restaurants or head out to the more rural areas and explore there is something for everyone to enjoy is beautiful Sweden.
