Traveling is always such an exciting thing, from selecting the place you will go, to where you will stay, what you will pack and what you will see in this new area. If you have recently decided to travel to Sweden, then you are in for a treat. This beautiful European Country has so much to offer, from its lovely people to gorgeous scenery. Perhaps you are overwhelmed though as to what exactly to see when you are in Sweden, there are so many great places to visit. There are of course the typical tourist places that you have no doubt already heard about and researched, what though if you are looking for something a little more unique, off the beaten path and not so typical. Lapland, this gorgeous winter wonderland will not disappoint. If you enjoy nature and wildlife, then you most definitely want to make an excursion up to this area. Here you can see the true nature of Sweden, and if you are brave enough to venture up there in the winter time you will be able to see the Northern Lights as well, a truly magical experience.

Then there is Visby in Gotland. This city is a true trip back in time. It is a medieval city still standing to this day. The best time to visit is during medieval week, there is a week-long festival where participants dress up as knights and go to traditional tournaments and markets, you can see how people truly lived during that time period. You won’t often hear about this area of Sweden but it I gorgeous and if you are interested in history then it is a must see.

Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city and is often referred to as the most charming city in Europe. It is known for having great nightlife and is a great place to go if you want a fun night out. It is surrounded by gorgeous nature for easy day trips and quaint cafes for yummy dining. You simply cannot miss this unique city. Possibly one of the most unique experience you could ever have is visiting the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi. You can sleep in a room make entirely of ice. Here you will have a hotel stay like one you’ve never had before. While this is more on the pricey side it is such a unique experience you must try it if you can.

Lastly there is Kalmar, known for its old castle and renaissance architecture this cute old town is another great area to visit on your Swedish holiday.
